Single parents 101 Session

June 6, 2018… HOUSTON, TX … Texas State Representative Jarvis Johnson will cohost a free  event called “ Single Parents 101, “ in conjunction with ProSe Parents, that is structured to provide resources and useful information on being a successful single parent.

One of the growing trends, in our society,  is single parent households. Though statistics show that most children, under the age of 18 , still live in homes where there are two parents, the need for useful resources and information is always needed. On June 21, 2018, from 7:00 PM – 9:00 PM, at the HCC West Loop South, ( 5601 West Loop S. Houston, TX 77081), State Representative Jarvis Johnson and ProSe Parents will ,collaboratively, host “ Single Parents 101” – The Best Interest Of The Child: Information Session.

“I have always wanted to provide a resource of great information for parents, while at the same time, advocating for the children,” explained Representative Johnson. “ The process of divorce can be a very trying and turbulent time. Families are , often times, torn apart, due to a lack of understanding and a lack of communication. There needs to be a process where all of the hurt feelings and the miscommunications can be healed, or at least put to the side, to give room for an opportunity to dialogue and come together, for the benefit of the children.”

“ Single Parents 101” will serve as the place where single parents can come and get information regarding child custody, child support, child visitation, parental rights and open sessions to help parents make the appropriate and most informed decisions, with the best interest of their children  , in mind.

“ Single Parents 101” is a free event and child friendly, with free activities for the kids, from 7:00 PM until 9:00 PM. Special guests will include the Texas Workforce Commission , the Houston Area Women’s Center, Office of the Attorney General and Prairie View A&M – Cooperative Extension Program.

“I am so honored to co-host this very necessary event with ProSe Parents, “ added Representative Johnson, “ If I can ever be the voice for anyone in need, anyone without a voice , especially for a child, then I will stand and do whatever it takes. Our children go through a lot, nowadays, more than , even we know , and when we add the breakdown of their stability, their family , and all of the chaos that that entails, our children get lost in the shuffle. ‘ Single Parents 101’ was designed to get us and our priorities back on track. Our priority should always be our children.”
