“Save Our Sons” is a partnership with District 139 State Representative, Jarvis Johnson and Monarch Family Services.

In Texas there are 17,000 children in foster care. About 7, 000 of those children are eligible for adoption. A majority of the children that are waiting to be adopted are African American males. “SOS” Project educates the community on CPS adoptions and how to become a certified home, in order to be a forever family for a child or sibling group.

The agency is family-focused and provides integrated comprehensive services across the family services continuum. The services that are offered are Foster Care, Adoption, Psychological Services, Supervised Visitation, Outpatient Substance Abuse Treatment, Intervention and Prevention Program, and Supportive Groups (parenting classes, anger management, and domestic violence). Nationally, 1 in 3 African American and 1 in 6 Latino boys are at risk of imprisonment. More than half of foster care youth end up in prison within two years of aging out of the system. Research has found that more than 80 percent of the prison population was once in foster care. If a child is adopted from foster care the likelihood of criminality decreases significantly.
