TEXAS STATE REPRESENTATIVE JARVIS JOHNSON HOSTS THE 3RD ANNUAL SICKLE CELL SYMPOSIUM ON APRIL 21,2021

April 3, 2018… HOUSTON, TX … Texas State Representative Jarvis Johnson is set to host the 3rd Annual Sickle Cell Symposium , organized by the Sickle Cell Association Of Houston and sponsored by Novartis and Global Blood Therapeutics (GBT). The symposium will take place on April 21, 2021 at the Northeast Multi- Service Center – 9720 Spaulding St, Houston, TX 77016. The symposium starts at 9:00AM and is free to the public.

“ Sickle Cell is definitely a disease that deserves attention and support, but beyond the illness, the symptoms and the numbers, the real inspiration behind my decision to rally behind, this particular platform, are the stories,” explains Representative Johnson. “ Hearing the stories and the life decisions that have to be made, from those individuals suffering from this disease, are eye opening and soul stirring, to say the least. To have absolutely no idea when or where you will be triggered, but to just have to accept, get through and push through your life in such pain and anguish, “ says Representative Johnson, “ these individuals are notvictims, by any stretch of the imagination, they are warriors and I want to dowhatever I can do to help them win this fight.”

The 3rd Annual Sickle Cell Symposium will include special guests, Felicia Williams, MD/ Pediatric ONC- HEM University Of South Alabama; Vivian Sheehan,MD, PHD Baylor College Of Medicine; and Quannecia McCruse of Sickle Cell Anemia Houston.
